We offer a wide range of silicon carbide materials manufactured under our Haldenwanger(R) brand.

These materials exhibit exceptional high performance, and high dimensional stability within extreme temperature environment, particularly where there is high mechanical strain. As well as these features, the individual materials also exhibit the following properties:

  • Very high strength >150MPa
  • Lightweight
  • Longer lifetime due to specially designed self-glazing

  • Compact matrix with open porosity
  • Classic ceramic for high-temperature constructions
  • Large dimension components possible
  • Reliable bonding of coatings
  • Application temperature: 1,600°C (2,912°F) (oxidising) and approx. 2,000°C (3,632°F) (under protective atmosphere)
  • Resistance to strong acids and alkalis

  • Compact matrix with open porosity
  • Very good oxidation resistance
  • Increased life time
  • Ideal material for porcelain fast-firing
  • Large dimension components possible
  • Reliable bonding of coatings
  • Application temperature: up to 1,650°C (3,002°F) (oxidising)

  • Silicon-infiltrated reaction-bonded silicon carbide (SiC)
  • Reaction-bonded SiC matrix, free of pores, with residual metallic silicon
  • High-temperature ceramic for highest mechanical loads
  • Excellent good oxidation resistance
  • Large dimensions components possible
  • Application temperature: up to 1,350°C (2,462°F)
  • Corrosion resistant against strong acids and alkalis

These materials are an excellent choice for the range of kiln furniture and thermocouple protection tubes that can be used for submersion into light metal melts, such as aluminium, magnesium, and zinc.

We work closely with our customers to select the right HalSiC(R) material for their end application ensuring optimum energy, weight saving and lower lifetime cost.
